Why another Oprah spiritual recommendation: "The Secret" is NOT the Real Deal!... Have you read on Oprah's book recommendation of "The Secret"?... the article today reads: * "The Secret": Is It the Real Deal? * and you can read it at: http://health.aol.com/ -which is AOL 'health' link...

This is not a new concept at all, it is the old 'positive thinking' with a new slant and a great guru pushing it... positive thinking is the technique and way to "awakening the wisdom and power within you" which makes it very appealing to everyone since it does not call for a Christian born-again experience as a way for God's blessings to flow into our lives but for our minds to 'mastermind' our destiny... which makes it such a dangerous thing... since without God we are nothing and totally lost, can 'nothing' create any good thing?

... and in business we have Napoleon Hill and his teaching on "Think and Grow Rich" and "The Science of Personal Achievement. Here is what is said about Napoleon Hill: "Napoleon Hill is considered to have influenced more people into success than any other person in history. Born in a one-room cabin, he began his career as a journalist. His big break came when he was asked to interview steel-magnate Andrew Carnegie, who was so impressed with the young reporter that he convinced Hill to research and organize the world's first philosophy of individual achievement. The project took 20 years to complete. Hill wrote several best-selling books on the subject. Napoleon Hill's "Think And Grow Rich" is one of Nightingale-Conant's best-selling programs of all time still on sale and used today.

... there had been the same teaching with a robe of Christianity years ago through the teachings of Dr. Vincent Peale - here is article describing it - 'Peale applied Christianity to everyday problems and is the person who is most responsible for bringing psychology into the professing Church, blending its principles into a message of "positive thinking." Peale said, "through prayer you ... make use of the great factor within yourself, the deep subconscious mind ... [which Jesus called] the kingdom of God within you ... Positive thinking is just another term for faith." He also wrote, "Your unconscious mind ... [has a] power that turns wishes into realities when the wishes are strong enough."

So, readers and listeners of Oprah and others telling us that "The Secret" is a good thing to follow - Beware and be aware! Let's concentrate on the Word of God as guidance and on Jesus Salvation as our 'more than enough' provider.

A good scripture to read and memorize and meditate in daily is Ephesians 3:20 - "Now glory be to God who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of-- infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts or hopes."
